This is perhaps one of the ONLY MLB authenticated base hits by KT Wiz Jae-Gyun Hwang, the former SF Giant! This specific ball was pitched 8 times in the top of the 3rd inning by Tigers starter Daniel Norris. -First, Norris would pitch 3 times to Hunter Pence- who he would retire via a run-scoring RBI Line-out, which scored Kelby Tomlinson. -Next, Norris would pitch 5 times to South Korean rookie Jae-gyun Hwang, who would eventually single on a line-drive to center field, scoring Gorkys Hernandez. This would be Hwang's 5th career hit and 3rd career RBI! -Not only is this one of the earliest Hwang balls to be collected and sold to the public, Hwang would finish his brief major league career with just 8 hits and 5 RBIs! The combo on this ball is unique and it is very unlikely another Hwang hit will surface for sale now that he is back playing in South Korea. This is at most 1 of 8 and likely 1 of just 2 or 3 career Hwang hits collected & MLB authenticated! Authenticated balls such as this are sent mid-game to sale to the public, and are sold by the team.
