(I show the published book cover for your reference only) Heyer is well known as an author and illustrator of children's books, several of them relating to the Christmas and Easter Holidays. This is one of only a handful of illustrations, all of them beautifully painted, that she has left from this tale of the first Christmas, told from the viewpoint of a little shepherd boy named "Reuel". This scene is iconic, and I would guess it's why it was chosen to be seen on the back cover of the book as well as appearing as an interior illustration. Beautifully colored and detailed, and handpainted in acrylic on unstretched canvas in landscape format 13" x 13" signed by Heyer. NOTE: No rights of reproduction accompany the sale.
