Impressive Pre-Revolution Russian 875 Silver Art Nouveau Double Handle Bowl

Description: Presented is a superb quality pre-Revolution Russian 875 purity silver bowl. This piece dates to circa 1900-1912, and was possibly made by Vasily Andreyev. The bowl is made in a very striking style, with interesting geometric pierced work around the sides and ornate openwork handles. The overall look of the piece is very Art Nouveau, with more flowing, sinuous motifs to the decoration that makes up the handles. The bowl is oval in form, and a good size for use as a centerpiece bowl, fruit bowl, or for a wide variety of other purposes. The bowl is exceptionally well made and has a nice feeling of weight, particularly for its size. This piece is stamped beneath the rim (interior side) with the Russian 84 kokoshnik mark for 875 purity silver, with the city mark for Moscow, as well as a maker's mark possibly for Vasily Andreyev. The maker's mark and a smaller Russian hallmark are repeated on both handles and on the underside of the bowl. This piece is in excellent condition. There is a tiny dent to the bottom interior, but this is hard to notice and would be completely unnoticeable with anything in the bowl. There are no splits, no other dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The bowl measures about 13 1/4 inches from handle to handle and stands about 5 inches tall at the handles or about 3 inches tall at the highest point of the rim.
