Description: This beautiful porcelain gravy boat is almost an antique. Based on the mark this dates to the mid- 1920's to early 1930's. It is by Hutschenreuther Selb in Bavaria. It has a floral pattern with a little note of deco design in the trim which fits with the dates on the mark pretty squarely. The gold leaf on the edges and the handles does make me lean to it being earlier than later in that period though. This is a gravy boat - obviously, but it is pretty cool in the design. Some thought went into this. First of all it is double spouted so weather leftie or rightie you can pour gravy on your roast without juggling the china. LOL. The handles which are located on each side in the middle are also thoughtfully placed, so you can slip a finger through and easily pour gravy from either direction. The boat has an attached saucer which really surprised me as I thought that was a far newer addition in porcelain, but apparently not in Bavaria. The hand painted trim consists of pretty blue cornflowers and pink roses (or peonies) bordered with a chain of pink and green dots. Overall this is in beautiful condition. There is one dot of paint loss on one gold handle - see pictures. Otherwise it looks to be pristine. Happy Shopping!
