Description: Here's a hard to find beauty. Husqvarna branded full size splitting axe, made by SAW (Wetterlings). The early 2000s had Husqvarna selling a variety of sweet Swedish axes under a mix of names and branding. When I was buying axes and cutting wood a lot, Wetterlings was the maker of choice for Husqvarna. Later, I think they moved to Hults Bruk/Hultafors. Those are nice, but not as nice as this. I've got Huskies that are branded Husqvarna in all places, some that are marked Wetterlings in all places, some with a mix of brands on the head and the handle and maybe the sheath. This one happens to be branded Wetterlings on the handle, Husqvarna on the head, and nothing on the sheath. In great shape. I like this thing way better than the Gransfors splitting *maul* I used to have. That thing was heavier and just too dang sharp and thin at the bit. This splitting axe design here gets it right. It's sharp, but quickly bulges out to provide effective splitting. Poll is NOT hardened, so you won't be driving wedges with this axe. Nice straight hickory handle, very comfortable in the hand.
