Description: When i first started collecting badges and medals, I noticed that they sold for alot more than Soviet items. the reason behind this is because of two reasons: 1) unlike the USSR, Hungary did not make badges for every holiday, city, state, tourist spot, anniversary, and government program...so they are much rarer; and 2)...they are all the highest quality. they are made with much denser metals (brass, copper, tin) and the enamel work is unrivaled in the Eastern Bloc. I am lucky to have aquired doubles of some Hungarian badges, so i am happy to help out other collectors by selling them for an inexpensive price. the KISZ was the youth wing of the Hungarian Communist Party in 1919 under Bela Kun, but it was dispersed at the end of the short-lived Hungarian Soviet Republic. in 1956, it was revived as the youth wing of the Hungarian Socialist Workers Party under Janos Kadar. The KISZ was very similar to the KOMSOMOL in the USSR or the SSM in Czechoslovakia. it was for young people too old for the Pioneers but considered too young to be active members of the Hungarian Socialist Workers Party (MSZMP). they organized sporting events, social functions, and study groups. this badge says "KISZ: Socialist Homeland". This is a "10th Year Anniversary" member badge for the KISZ. it is 1 1/4" by 3/4" and made of a copper/brass alloy. i will be happy to ship internationally, but please contact me first for rates. for combined shipping, just add 50 cents for each additional item. after 6 items, i stop asking for additional s/h.
