Description: a vintage 4-panel Harriet Johns(1923-2014) modern abstract piece, I believe from her "Stone and Steel" series. Each panel is 3'x3'. Ms. Johns' work is incredibly hard to get a hold of, and generally sells in the area of around 10 thousand per panel in the large mural works. This piece was likely from the 70s/80s based on the size of the work and series it's a part of. An overall beautiful mid-century style abstract organic geometric form porcelain enameled steel panels wall mural. displays wonderfully in current condition. Please note that main photos will show reflection from lighting as well as tensioners to hang them temporarily. Personally for final display, I would likely create a large simple black strip-frame to hang all 4 pieces together with slight shadowbox to show the depth. Condition is very good, but shows some age. There are a few edges with some chipped enamel, and a few areas of the face where the gloss finish could use a polish. PLEASE ask for further images to show every last amount of detail for conditions, etc. THIS IS IMPORTANT- I WANT EXCITED AND HAPPY CLIENTS MORE THAN A SALE. This is hard to get across frequently, but it's the top priority. Note: shipping will be courier only, not Fedex as noted. Harriet Johns works on multiple scales, from monumental to miniature. But her most ambitious pieces, architectural commissions, and multiple steel panels have always been producedin commercial enamel-on-steel plants. In this tough industrial atmosphere, Johns utilized commercial processes and high temperatures to realize her intensely personal, and abstract vision. The process is long and complex. This medium, largely ignored by the fine art world, was a revelation. Johns knew she had found her natural medium. A lifetime of travel, looking and questioning plus an intuitive feeling for the expressive power of color provide her shifting but internally consistent subject matter. In 1978, in Arequipa Peru, she recorded the following credo in her journals. it is still true. "It is the immediacy of the impressions, the transience of light, the play of moving clouds, that I seek to record and capture in some fleeting form. it is as if the imprint, the seeing felt on my psyche is to be recalled and developed later. The power of the impressions, the spontaneous, the ever changing real. It is like the emotional power overriding all. It is Pachamama - the Earth Mother - that I respond to, not the linear, predictable surface, but the gut beneath it - above it all. Encompassing, changing, light, space, form - the intent. Energy. Emotional power."
