Description: Item Description: This auction is for one External Reference add on board for the 33220A Function Generator. The 33220A in the pictures is not included. Board color may be green or purple. This board is similar to the original option 001 board and provides an input for an external 10MHz reference and a 10MHz reference output for connection to a second 33220A or another instrument. The second picture shows the installation of the OEM external reference board in a 33220A. The new board mounts in the same manner. The BNC washers and nuts and the 10 pin ribbon cable are included. Note: the BNC connectors are spaced 0.75" (19mm) apart. Some older 33220A units may have different spacing.The reference input can be either sine wave or square wave. The input BNC connector is floating and transformer isolated. The input level should be between 0.2V P-P and 5V P-P assuming the input is not terminated in 50 ohms. An SMT pattern for a 50 ohm 1206 resistor (R1, not populated) is on the board if input termination is desired. The OEM external reference board input was not terminated in 50 ohms.The reference output is derived from the main board reference output (like the OEM board) but is buffered and filtered to get a sine wave at about 4.8V P-P open circuit (11dBm, 2.4V P-P into 50 ohms). The sine wave output is more forgiving of cable length and termination. The reference output is transformer isolated and the BNC is isolated like the input BNC. Note: The OEM board had a square wave output with the shell of the BNC connected to chassis. The third picture is the spectrum plot of the output with a 10dB attenuator on the input of the spectrum analyzer. Harmonics are about 40dB down from the 10MHz signal.
