The comedy opened on March 22, 1971 and ran for a total of 104 performances, closing on June 26, 1971. Actress BERNICE MASSI performed in numerous Broadway shows between 1952 and 1981 including Wish You Were Here (1952-1953), Can-Can (1953-1955), No Strings (1962-1963), What Makes Sammy Run? (1964-1965), Man of La Mancha (1965-1971), and I Ought to Be in Pictures (1980-1981). SANDY DENNIS (1937-1992) won two consecutive Tony Awards (for Best Supporting or Featured Actress - Drama for A Thousand Clowns in 1963, and for Best Actress - Drama for Any Wednesday in 1964) as well as the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966). TOM ALDREDGE (1928-2011) appeared in over 30 Broadway and off-Broadway plays since 1957 and was nominated for 5 Tony Awards. PHIL SILVERS (1911-1985) starred in film comedies from the early 1940s, but his big successes came on TV and on stage. His Broadway hits include Yokel Boy (1939), High Button Shoes (1947), Top Banana (1950, which won him a Tony), Do Re Mi (1960), and a revival of A Funny Thing Happened On the Way To the Forum (1971) which earned him his second Tony. Actor RICHARD MULLIGAN (1932-2000) won his first Emmy Award for his role as Burt Campbell on the ground-breaking sitcom, Soap (1977-1981). Mulligan made his Broadway debut as a stage manager and understudy in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, All the Way Home (1960-1961). JEANNE HEPPLE (b. 1936) was a stage actress who appeared in Broadway productions such as Tonight at 8:30 (1967) and Much Ado About Nothing (1972-1973) among others.
