Spooner was a prolific and well-established artist in Nottinghamshire, working mostly in oils but also some sketch works in watercolours. Trained at the Nottingham School of Art, Spooner later taught at Nottingham Trent University, retiring as its master in residence. He was a versatile and sought-after painter in a loosely impressionist style, known for his landscapes, horses and portraits. Spooner joined the Nottingham Society of Artists in 1908, being elected vice-president of the society in 1924 and again in 1938; in 1920, he was elected a member of the Royal Society of Artists . He exhibited several works at the Royal Academy. Many of Arthur Spooner’s paintings are in the public collections and can be seen on ArtUK; and a wider body of work can be seen on artprice.com, arcadia.com, findartunfo.com, artnet.com besides the auction sites of bonhams.com, christies.com and several provincial auction sites. Presented in very good overall condition in a slightly later frame, this painting will look fabulous displayed Click images to enlarge Terms of Sale The gallery at ColstarTV offers fine art, decorative art and prints, vintage photography, entertainment memorabilia and militaria.
