These pictures were taken from various sources such as early engravings and photographs. It tells with pictures and text the history of the Wilkes Barre area from 1729 up to 1976. It seems to cover just about everything from the Yankee - Pennamite wars and up through the Revolution and Civil War. Into the 20th century and the rise of the anthracite coal mining industry and the Knox mine disaster. Some other interesting subjects include the Giant's Despair Hill Climb, the various major floods, and the development of early radio in the area. The book itself is in very good condition. (see pictures above). There is some minor cover wear and the spine is very lightly sunned. Overall a nice copy.
