Prepared for the Press by Paul Allen. Revised, Abridged and Introduction by Archibald M'Vickar. In two volumes. Published by Harper & Brothers, NY, 1842. No subsequent publication dates appear. Book was released in later editions in 1855, 1868, 1901 and later. While this isn't specified as a later printing, type faces are worn in spots suggesting this was printed from the first edition plates of 1842 but is most certainly a later printing. The former owner's personal bookplate appears and is dated 1900. Condition is quite nice--a Very Fine set. Clean, scarcely any wear. Map present. Nameplate of former owner appears. Books measure 4 1/8 X 6 1/8, 371 & 395 pages, respectively. A few copies of this set can be found on other internet booksites for upwards of $740!!!!
