Description: The Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, presents a Vintage HENKEL-HARRIS Mahogany JOHN HANCOCK Secretary Desk by Virginia Galleries, Winchester, Virginia. Made in U.S.A. Circa: 1981. Design inspired by Colonial America desks and features 4 ingeniously hidden secret storage compartments within the drop-down desk. Included is a letter from Henkel-Harris to the purchaser that includes instructions for locating the secret compartments. The 2-piece secretary with carved pediment features an upper section with beveled glass cabinet doors opening onto 3 wood shelves, and a lower section containing 4 dovetailed drawers with brass swan-neck pulls. Upper drawer contains Henkel-Harris fabric label (center) and ink stamp (right). Pull-down desk has pull out sliders that support the open desk, a 36-1/2”W x 25”D workspace, 8 drawers, 8 cubby holes, and central piece flanked by columns and opened with a separate key — where the aforementioned secret compartments are situated.
