Description: Hedwig Mechle-Grossmann (1857–1928) German Hunter Dog Dachshund Oil/Board c.1900 Up for sale is vintage c.1900 original oil on board (thick card) painting by German artist Hedwig Mechle-Grossmann (1857–1928). Hedwig Mechle-Grossmann is well known and appreciated for her expressive genre scenes depicting children. Born in Görlitz, she worked in Berlin and moved on to Ödenburg, where she died. Important examples of her work are held in the Ödenburg Landesmuseum. This genre scene is very well executed employing a sophisticated knowledge of light, color and perspective. The painting itself is measuring about 15” (39 cm) by 12” (30.5 cm), and the frame is measuring 18” (46 cm) by 15” (39 cm). The painting is signed by the artist in the lower left corner. This painting would be a very sound investment and a great addition to any collection. Please don’t confuse our low starting bid or discounted price with the actual value of the piece.
