Description: This is a rare souvenir program (with an original ticket stub) from the Original London production of the HARRY NILSSON musical fantasy "THE POINT" at the Mermaid Theatre in London. (The production opened December 16th, 1976 and played a limited four-week engagement through the Christmas holiday season.) ..... Inspired by an acid trip, the story centered on the character "Oblio", the only person with a round head in a village of pointy headed people. Originally produced in 1971 as a "Movie of the Week" on ABC Television with DUSTIN HOFFMAN as the narrator and HARRY NILSSON singing the songs, it wasn't long before producers were encouraging Nilsson to bring the show to the stage. The musical opened at the Mermaid Theatre with WAYNE SLEEP starring as "Oblio" and featuring BERNARD MILES, COLIN BENNETT, KENNETH CASWELL, CRISTINA AVERY, JO WARNE, DAVID DELVE, PAUL AYLETT, RAYMOND SKIPP, OSCAR JAMES, PEGGY ANN JONES, ALAN BODENHAM and RICHARD MERSON with RICHARD BARNES, JEAN GILBERT and ANNA MacLEOD as vocalists ..... CONDITION: With the exception of corner creases to four pages, light spotting in places, surface rubbing to the back cover and minor edge wear, this rare program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
