Description: This is a rare single page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting ticket sales for the London revival of the HARRY NILSSON musical fantasy "THE POINT" at the Mermaid Theatre in London. (The Original London production opened December 16th, 1976 at the Mermaid Theatre and played a limited four-week engagement through the Christmas holiday season. This revival opened December 22nd, 1977 and ran for two months, closing February 25th, 1978.) ..... Inspired by an acid trip, the story centered on the character "Oblio", the only person with a round head in a village of pointy headed people. Originally produced in 1971 as a "Movie of the Week" on ABC Television with DUSTIN HOFFMAN as the narrator and HARRY NILSSON singing the songs, it wasn't long before producers were encouraging Nilsson to bring the show to the stage. The musical originally opened on December 16th, 1976 at the Mermaid Theatre with WAYNE SLEEP starring as "Oblio". This 1977 revival starred former "Monkees" co-stars DAVY JONES as "Oblio" and MICKET DOLENZ in the dual roles of the "Count's Kid" and "The Leafman" and featured COLIN BENNETT, DAVID CLARIDGE, VERONICA CLIFFORD, NOEL HOWLETT, JULIA LEWIS, CLOVISSA NEWCOMBE, MARK PENFOLD, FELIX RICE, CHRISSY ROBERTS, DENNY RYDER, ROY SAMPSON and GARY TAYLOR ..... CONDITION: With the exception of heavy creasing at the top and minor edge wear, this rare flyer is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
