Hardy, 2 7/8” Red Agate, “Perfect” Reel. Orig Vintage model! Not a reissue. Ex.

Description: A rare and cherished example of a beautiful post-war, red agate, vintage Hardy Perfect, in the small 2 7/8” size. This Hardy Perfect was originally made for the exclusive sporting goods store of Abercrombie & Fitch, in New York city, to grace the fly rods of the classic American rod builders. This was the era when England was exporting their best to the USA, and the quality of this reel is a fine example of great reel design and function.This vintage Hardy Perfect is in excellent condition with no mechanical issues evident; spool turns smoothly with no wobble or loose play. The drag engages well throughout its range and is fully functional. The leaded finish, on the spool, is relatively complete but worn off on the face plate of the reel, certainly a testament to loving use by the previous steward as well as myself. The red agate line guide is undamaged and free of any cracks or fissures. The ribbed, brass reel foot is unaltered and in very good condition. The Hardy reel case shown, I believe, is not original to this Perfect. This reel will handle line weights through a 6wt, if backing is not much of a serious consideration. Regardless, whether you wish to showcase your Perfect or use it to tempt a pensive brown, brook or rainbow, you will have a rare classic to enjoy.
