Minor spots, due to the age. Otherwise fine. Hans Georg Hansen (1908 - 1992) Full name: Hans Georg Sonderlund Hansen. Pseudonyms/ Monograms: Hans Georg Hansen, H.G. Hansen, H.H and H.G. Born in Denmark in 1908. Danish artist, illustrator, and author. Professor at the Kunsthojskolen and an art teacher. Throughout the 1920s he worked as an illustrator for the Danish author, Niels Meyn (1891-1957). During this period, he did the illustrations for many of Niels Meyns Science fiction and fantasy novels. Other works include designs for children’s literature, historical illustrations featuring explores and other popular scenes from classic literature. Hans Georg Hansen also did the book covers and illustrations for his own books ( Magellans Dreng 1946, Den hvide Guds genkomst. Den Spanske invasion i Amerika 1947, Trund 1948, and Higueymota 1968). Hans Georg Hansen worked mainly in watercolor and pen and ink, but have also done a few oil paintings. He worked and travelled abroad a great deal, especially in the Middle Americas and did many sketches about the Inka Kingdom in Peru. He also took many study tours to Europe. Hans Georg Hansen style is simple, elegant, colorful and refined, influenced by the Art Deco period of his time. A series of his works were exhibited at the Interskandinavisk show in 1949.
