Handsome Vintage Zanesville Stoneware Co. ZSC 2-Handled Flower Vase Vulcan #827

Description: Featured in this listing is a beautiful, vintage flower vase made by Zanesville Stoneware Co. (ZSC). This piece is in excellent, near-mint condition with no chips, no cracks, light crazing and no repairs; however, there are tiny glazed-over clay tags at the top and base rims where small bits of clay were dislodged before firing (as made). This piece is 6" tall, 6-1/4" wide at the handles, and almost 4" wide at the mouth. The base of the pottery is stamped only with an incised mark, the shape number 827, and was most likely produced by ZSC in the 1930s. Stilt marks are visible. It is pictured in the ZSC reference guide "Zanesville Stoneware Company" by Rans, Ralston and Russell in the "Vulcan" glaze line section. This bulbous vase features two buttressed handles. The stunning glaze from the Vulcan line is a rich, matte reddish-tan underglaze with an overdrip of green and gray. This glaze finish creates beautiful muted and mottled tones.
