The 7/8" nickel silver oval medal has "St Clara", shown holding up a Blessed Sacrament monstrance; "pray for us" on the back. The 1-1/2" silver-toned crucifix has a starburst design on the cross. Both medal and crucifix were made in Italy; the chaplet was designed and handmade by me in the USA.All eleven beads are faceted and fire-polished Czech glass in a generous 8mm size. The single Our Father bead is a solid white with silver plated filigree caps. The ten Hail Mary beads are alternating light aqua and aurora borealis pink colors. Very feminine and pretty. She founded the Poor Clares, became a close friend of St Francis, and lived a long and holy life. At the end of her life, when she was too ill to attend mass, she would watch a "movie" of the mass that miraculously appeared on her cell wall, which led to her patronage of television. St Clare is the patron of eyes and eye diseases, goldsmiths, good weather, embroiderers and others who work needlecrafts, television and telegraph, telephones and laundry workers. There is a Spanish tradition that St Clare helps to show a person the correct path to follow; she "clears" alway obstacles in your path, which may refer either to her name or her patronage against blindness, including spiritual blindness; and also that she helps with clear weather when it is God's will.
