The ten Hail Mary beads are genuine Czech dark blue glass pearls alternating with white faux pearls. The single Our Father is a silver-toned filigree bead. The 7/8" oval nickel silver medal has the image of Our Lady of Walsingham on the front and "Our Lady of Walsingham pray for us" on the reverse. The woman had a replica of Our Lady's home built in the village of Walsingham which became known as the "Holy House". Later a shrine and priory were built and it became a popular place of pilgrimage for people who could not travel to the continent during the upheavals of medieval Europe. Sadly the holy place was destroyed during the Reformation in Henry VIII's time (1538). It was revived hundreds of years later - beginning in 1896 and continuing into the 20th century - when new Anglican, Catholic and Orthodox shrines were built and old buildings which had been used for secular purposes were reclaimed by the church. Today it is a place of pilgrimage again for many Christians. The USA also has chapels, shrines and a cathedral named after Our Lady of Walsingham (located in Wisconsin, Virginia & Texas).The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medalsand pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" programon a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although theyare not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of ourcustomers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 "pages"and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about thesaint or Catholic devotion.
