Size: 11 x 15 in (28 x 38 cm), printed on the back. Joan Miro (April 20, 1893 - December 25, 1983) was a famous, Spanish Catalan artist. He did works in sculpture and painting and also worked as a ceramist. Born in the seaport city of Barcelona, Spain much of his work was influenced by the scenic seaside town, and the distinct style that he found in the area. In 1928, he exhibited with a group of renowned surrealist painters, including Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte in Paris. Even though Surrealism has many influences in his work, Miro retained his own personal style, and his distinct and unique form is obvious in most of the works of art that he distributed and exhibited. In 1974, Joan Miro produced a tapestry for the World Trade Center. It was one of the most valuable pieces of artwork destroyed in the September 11 terrorist attacks. This hand signed print was originally produced to accompany an art exhibition featuring Miro. Before the internet, books and portfolios were a long-established way for galleries to promote their special shows. Many of the books and portfolios were kept by the galleries and then broken up for sale, with some prints signed and other unsigned by Miro. For certification of authenticity (COA), we are relying on the galleries from which we purchased to verify the artwork and signatures.
