S. Revenue Cutter Service as second assistant engineer, and continued until 1895, he was active in art in retirement and even published an early book on CROSS WORDS doing all the art himself. Specifically this item is a hand cut linoleum. i know he published a book in 1933 called LEX THE CROSS WORD CODE, this has the word LEX at the bottom with a nice Egyptian motif, this was problem used in the production of his book.
