Cabrera Infante was displeased with the edition, due to the censorship of 22 passages by the Francoist regime; the censored passages were restored in 1990 when the author published a completely revised text of the novel in Venezuela. Some of the usual subtle tanning to text edges, gently spine-sunned, with some creasing to the yapped edges at spine ends, and the front wrapper pulling away very slightly from the textblock; wrappers clean, with contents unfoxed; Very Good+. In the original pictorial dustjacket, showing modest external wear, hint of sunning to spine, with a few tiny nicks, tears, and attendant creases to spine ends; Very Good+ or better.
