Talk about a Grateful Dead " New Years Eve ! " Ticket !! - ( " Full " & " Unused " ! ) - that is a true-candidate for ... The Coolest ! Grateful Dead " New Year's ! " Ticket of All-Time !! And really too ... also a candidate for ' Overall ' Coolest ! Grateful Dead Ticket of All-Time - and, just think as that would be a pretty tight competition ... considering that this is indeed " 30-Years " of The Grateful Dead ! that we are talking about here ... 1965-1995 !!! Wow ... for certain, as the photos of this 12/31/1990 G.D. Ticket Stub most-definitely do all the talking ... one-of the Most-Colorful ! & Kind-Designed ! Dead Tickets there ever-was. And too ... don't think the ' unveiling ' of this Ticket wasn't a real big deal too, when it was 1st released - as I distinctly remember it being a conversation " Centerpiece " in the Dead Tour Lot ! Well, you know ... among ' Many ' of those " Centerpiece " Deadhead Conversations. Ha ! Always loved-them, and would never-ever want to live without them ... So-Awesome ! - and often too ... So " Rare & Different " ! This Show was ( naturally ... ) a National Radio Broadcast - so Dead Fans Everywhere ! could go ahead, and easily tune in. But, the real " Big Deal " about this Show is actually something that nobody knew at the time, and could never-ever expect ... as this 1990-91 G.D. New Year's Eve Show in Oakland, would indeed be Bill Graham's very-last. As Bill passed so-untimely in the Fall of '91, and from there on with Grateful Dead " New Years Show " - things were forever-changed, and even to the point that the Band reluctantly went through with the 1991-1992 New Years Eve Show, but then ... decided to entirely bag the whole thing - as for all reasons quite obvious, things just weren't ' ever ' going to be the same ... without Bill being a part of them. The loss of Brent, and then Bill ... two Huge ! blows to the Good Ol' Grateful Dead as we all knew it, which obviously was ... never ' quite ' the same. Nonetheless ...with Bill Graham in the House for this 12/31/90 G.D. New Year's Eve Celebration ! ( and, may I also add ... he was also lowered to the Stage ! dressed as a " Witch Doctor " - with a few " Fire Eaters " with him ! ... Go Bill !! ) the Band delivered a Hot ! Show, and one that I personally enjoyed so-much, that I continued to listen to it on analog cassette Tons ! all the way through the '90's Era, and still even here & there still today ! Branford Marsalis sat in for the Entire ! 2nd Set ... and even came out at the end of Set I as well, for the Bird Song > Promised Land set closer. The Bucket ! opened up this Show, with Jack-A-Roe, Wang Dang, and Row Jimmy to follow - on the Bobby/Jerry trade-off ... with a cooking Mexicali > Big River to follow. And, the entire 2nd Set, including the Encores ! was kind of a Beast !! - I mean what do you think ? >>> NFA > Eyes > Dark Star > Drums/Space > Other One > Wharf Rat > NFA ... with The Weight ! as Encore # 1, and Johnny B. Goode !! as Encore # 2!! And really ... enough said there, because we always know that things are a cookin' nicely ! when Johnny ! comes out to play ! Killer New Year's G.D. !!! And too ... let's also remember too - to give this Eyes > Dark Star !!! the ' props ' that it deserves ... completely Fabulous ! Loved-it, and am still Lovin' it ! So ... yes indeed - the Last & Final G.D. " New Years " Show with Bill ! on the Team ... and, looking back - So-Glad it was a Hot ! one. Funny to think too, that arguably ... the Coolest ! Grateful Dead Ticket of all-time, also marked Bill's Last - such a crazy coincidence ... but, as we all well know - Anything ! can always happen in the wide & wonderful world ... of The Grateful Dead !! This Ticket saw purchased via GDTS Mail Order, but never made it inside the Show - so, absolutely-ideal for ' Mounting & Framing ' - with the entry-stub still included !
