A full-month later after returning from the European Tour, the Grateful Dead gear up for a what would be a power-packed 1981 Summer Tour ! This performance catches them during only the 2nd Show of this beginning East Coast leg. The Philly Spectrum show, two-nights prior on 5/4 ( get it, if you don't have it ! ) showed early signs that the Band was tight, giddy, smooth ... & just really-meant-business ! I'm sure that many Fans who attended the 5/4/81 Spectrum Show decided impromptu to make the journey north to Long Island just to make certain they didn't miss a single-note of this now very apparent Back East hot-streak the Dead were on. Playing with fierce power, and truly finding all of the available grooves ( and then some ! ). Fortunately, anyone who made that call well over 35-years ago was treated ( so very fortunately ... ) to this : 5/6/81 Nassau - now officially-enshrined as a Dick's Pick - #13 - a simply toe-to-toe Live-Dead Heater !! With Brent Mydland and his new keyboard tones settling very nicely into the Band, Jerry Garcia's virtuoso guitar rifts ( darn near metal, at times - thus further solidifying his spot at the very-top in the " Best Guitarists of All-Time " conversation ( he's had my vote for decades !) ), the early birth we all came to know & love as " Bob Weir & The 80's ! ", and the Good Ol' saying that we all like to hear & say anytime the Boys would step on stage : " When Phil's On . . . T _ _ B _ _ _'_ O _ ! " definitely holds true here. Plus, the Two-Headed Drummer unit continuously delivers a downright monstrous-attack of timekeeping throughout both of these Sets ! + Plus >>> there's even a little hidden " Surprise " for your here on CD 2 !
