Comprised of server, encoder, client software, and SMIL-compliant set-top box (STB) components, it is ideal for point-of-sale, corporate, video-retrieval, and digital-signage applications. The MEDIAEDGE-STB4 system delivers video and signage content in three ways: on-demand, scheduled playback, and live broadcast. With video-on-demand (VOD) application, select video clips stored on the MEDIAEDGE-SVS4 server for viewing. Scheduled playback allows an unlimited number of users to view a pre-programmed arrangement of multiple video clips. Live broadcasting with the MEDIAEDGE-STB4 system utilizes real-time capabilities of its encoding devices to transmit live external SD and HD video sources. Designed as a compact, SMIL-compliant network device, the MEDIAEDGE-STB4 provides multiple layers of video and multimedia display for digital signage and/or video distribution.
