Variety description: Crystal bayberry, also known as Baisha bayberry, Xishan bayberry, Erdu bayberry, is produced in Shangyu, Yuyao, Fujian, Longhai, Zhangpu and other places in Zhejiang. It is the only large fruit-shaped and popular variety among bayberry varieties. The tree is strong, the crown is semicircular, the leaves are inverted lanceolate or obovate, 7.57 cm long and 2.37 cm wide, the apex is round and obtuse, occasionally or acuminate, or serrated between the edges, thin and light green. The fruit is spherical, with a single fruit weight of 14.4 grams and a maximum of 17.3 grams. It is white and jade, and the tip of the flesh pillar is slightly red; the flesh is soft and tender, juicy, sweet and slightly sour, with a strong flavor, a unique fragrance and excellent quality. The edible rate is 93.6%, and the soluble solids are 13.4%. They mature in mid-to-late June. Crystal is a rare variety of bayberry, with colors ranging from pink to milky white, among which crystal bayberry, especially all milky white, are the rarest, which is said to be used as a tribute in ancient times.
