He is also the chairman of the jury for the awarding of the Uwe Johnson Literature Prize and the Uwe Johnson Funding Prize and a member of the P.E.N. Center for Germany. In 2012 he was nominated for the Diefenbaker Award (Canada). Birka Siwczyk studierte nach einer Buchhändlerausbildung Germanistik, Kunstgeschichte und Pädagogik (Lehramt). Sie ist als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Arbeitsstelle fÃ"r Lessing-Rezeption Kamenz tätig.
