Description: Gorgeous Antique Stainer Copy Violin with Original Bow and Case For sale is a seller-restored estate sale antique violin. The conditions of the violin, bow, and the case at the estate sale in Pittsburgh are shown in the last picture. The violin has a “Stainer” label inside and a “Stainer” stamp on the scroll. However, the seller considers that this is only a high quality Stainer copy. The case bears a label of “Kschier Brothers, Pittsburgh”. Online search reveals that this violin was being serviced by Kschier Brothers, a three-generation violin repair family business in Pittsburgh from 1850 to 1981, as quoted below: “the Kschier family, which has repaired string instruments here since 1850, would surely receive a plaque. Lou, 79, and his brother Loman, 75, are the third generation of Kschiers in the business. Since childhood they have rehaired bows, mended cracks in violins, cut new bridges for cellos. The brothers, long past retirement age, have sold the business. The three young men who will take over next month Noel Benson of Detroit and Steve McCann and Meng Gau of Chicago were chosen with the same care that the Kschiers apply to their work on violins. "They are professionals," said Lou, who has faith that the good name of Kschier, which will remain with the shop, will also be carried on in quality of workmanship. Nevertheless, it is the end of an era 131 years of family devotion to the art of violin repair is coming to a close.”The violin, bow, and the case have been restored to fully functional conditions as shown in pictures. The violin is amazingly beautiful for its obviously old age, with a few noticeable dings. The scroll was repaired before. And the seller repaired a top plate crack and bottom center seam separation with cleats underneath. The seller also rehaired the bow, which is a high quality pernambuco bow that is straight and nicely curved, very valuable and a rare find nowadays. The fiberglass case is in good usable condition, as shown in those pictures. The seller considers that the sound of this violin is spacious and warm, well balanced with a strong and robust lower register, a reliable middle register, and a sweet upper register.
