GOLD NUGGETS CALIFORNIA GOLD .66 GRAM

Description: GOLD NUGGET (PICKERS) from CALIFORNIA Ruler is 1/4" wide (6 mm). U.S. 10 cent coin is 17 mm in diameter. Combined weight: 10.24 Grains (Troy) - .66 Gram Sizes: Small - 2 mm on average Brilliant, naturally-occurring California gold 'pickers' is what I'm offering. The natural, un-oxidized oro coloration is sublime. Small wonder folks follow the Golden Fleece. Seeing these reminds me of how I got hooked on gold in the first place. To a musician, it's like hearing the most beautiful harmony ever. California brought these close to the earth's surface where some miner dug them up. There's no golden aspirations here, it's the real Mccoy. Au and silicon dioxide (quartz), starting as dissolved elements inside super-heated aqueous solutions, fills fissures, faults, cracks, other porous rock formations and then, in cooling, crystallizes. That's basically how gold veins are formed. In many mining districts, rich chunks of ore break off from contact alteration zones and begin their downhill descent. Eventually, most of this material makes it's way into watersheds. Gold will usually lose whatever gangue accompanied it at the beginning. This gold contains hardly any gangue. Most nuggets, however, carry a smidgeon of host rock. No, you won't get your money's worth in Au here. That's because you're purchasing gold specimens, not bullion, not coinage. All my rocks show visible gold and are comprised of 100% natural minerals. U.S. SHIPPING - $4.00 (shipped via 1st Class) INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS S&H $16.00 FAST REFUND OFFERED (If, for any reason, you're not happy with this item). I poured through old mining dumps for years looking at orange-yellow-rusty rock through a loupe. Not once did I ever find a piece with visible gold in it, never by just eye-balling rocks anyway. This specimen comes from one of the many vein systems sourcing the immense placer deposits of the Sierra Nevada Mtns, the famed Mother Lode. You won't find any. I deal in native minerals with visible gold, not replicas, not 'paint ons'. I don't peddle 'simulated' specimens made with minute amounts of gold or no real gold at all. No fake nuggets here, folks. I've personally bought stuff that had gold painted on it. Also purchased here have been 'natural gold quartz' specimens with tiny chunks of placer gold glued on. All of my advertised specimens, slabs, cabochons, gold ores et al are authentic and contain native gold and/or are composed almost entirely of gold (i.e. gold nuggets, gold flakes, wire gold specimens). The purity of this gold will vary, but if it's from California, you can count on the percentage being fairly high, say 80 to 90% pure. For comparision, a 14K gold wedding band is 58% pure gold. The origin of these small pickers is, perhaps, an undiscovered vein somewhere in the Sierra Nevada Mtns. of California. UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH GOLD There was one brief, exhilarating moment when I felt like King of the Drywashermen. Years ago, I hiked back into the mountains with a drywasher strapped to my back for one purpose. With a sharp eye, determination, a bit of luck, and a heap of digging a fellow sometimes guesses on a likely-looking spot, gets lucky, and hits a nice pay-streak or pocket - gold-bearing ground overlooked by the old timers. There were other drywashermen combing the local gullies who worked just as hard as me. My guess is they rolled back concentrates in their drywasher trays and, seeing good color, felt rich! They experienced that same exhilarating flush of excitement as I did. In years gone by, going it alone on foot is what prospectors did. The fewer people who knew where you were going, the better. Trust me. Somebody out there's always looking to jump into another fella's hole and that's the pits! I loved the serenity of the bush; the remoteness; the isolation; the discoveries; finding virgin gold, unearthing it where no one else thought to look. Those were far greater rewards than how much gold a guy plopped in his poke. In the SW Arizona desert, large nuggets have always been an anomaly. In other regions of the world, it's a different story. Back in the 70s and 80s, ten ounce Australian nuggets were the rule, not the exception. The regions I prospected simply weren't that rich. It wasn't ten ounce nugget country. On a really good day, you might find a ten grain nugget. Diggings in that part of the U.S. tended to be small, lean, isolated fields and drywashes where a quarter ounce lead or half pennyweight nugget represented a memorable moment in time. It still does. Whenever a prospector scores gold like that in southwestern Arizona or southeastern California, the feeling is exuberant. Working hungry ground, a guy doesn't become jaded. In the bottom of a clear, water-filled vial, every little pea-sized nugget looks huge and, in a relative sense, is. Nowadays, guys load up their ATVs with gear and go roaring across the desert so fast they barely see the trail ahead of them. If someone's up front, you're probably half-blinded inside a cloud of particulates. Tearing along at break-neck speed, everything flies by unnoticed. On foot, you're taking in the natural beauty all around you. One person, alone, can become connected to nature. I wrote a song titled 'Alone in the Desert". It tells the story of old Dan and his little black burro. In my book, that's what real prospecting's all about. I'll give these celebrity TV miners credit. They're good at what they do. Some are outstanding heavy-equipment operators, mechanics, welders, electricians, all-around machinists, and the like. Most seem genial-enough. A couple demonstrate a real knack for finding gold. Here's my issue with TV mining - big machinery and mechanical breakdowns. Give me a break! As an aging argonaut who's been there already, it's irritating. I won't say what would improve their TV ratings. Those who know what I know prefer keeping ideas under their hats lest somebody rip them off. Plagiarism sucks! It's like the guys who can't wait to jump in your hole. Thanks for checking on our digs, but please! Stay out of my dad-burned hole! Gold of Eldorado 8-13-17
