Description: Goebel M.I. Hummel # 85/0 - "Serenade" - 5.125" Tall - Incised Full Bee Trademark (TMK-2) - Master Painter Marked ("C") - Fingers Down - Part of the Hummel Orchestra - Closed Edition. HUM 85/0 Serenade - Incised TMK-2 Height 5.125" Tall This hummel was originally modeled by master sculptor Arthur Meller in 1938. There are many size, color and other variations between older and newer models. Some models have a few of the boy's fingers up and some have the fingers flush around the flute handle. This one has the fingers down. This size, 85/0, was recently restyled with a new hair style and textured finish. Normal hat color is dark gray or black. Older models are sometimes found with a light gray hat. The hat on this one appears to be a dark brown, but I could be incorrect. Please refer to pictures. The original name of this hummel was "The Flutist" in some older catalogs. This is one of the several figurines that make up the Hummel Orchestra. It has the Master Painter mark "C". This is a closed edition. See below for the specifications: Has "" Full Bee Trademark (TMK-2) incised on underside of base. Incised Hummel Number "85/0" on underside of base and incised "M.I. Hummel" on rear side of base. Hummel is within the top-range of the catalogs height range of 4.75"-5.25", standing at 5.125" high. Has the fingers in the down position. (Early Version) Hand-signed "C" mark by Master Painter on bottom of base. Stamped "Germany" in black on the bottom of the base. Colors are strong and do retain some gloss. This hummel is part of the Hummel Orchestra. Closed Edition. Hummel is in Good condition considering it's age. No Crazing Detected! It appears that there may have been a tiny chip on the edge of the flute, however it is painted brown. Not sure if this was done at the factory or if it was professionally touched up afterwards. Since the color matches precisely and miniscule in size, I personally believe it came that way from the factory. View final close up picture to judge for yourself. May have some dust from sitting in the China Cabinet for decades. I did not want to damage it inadvertently by cleaning it. Buyer to pay actual shipping expense determined by eBay.
