Only 30 units were produced worldwide, and each one is numbered. The Gibson J-180 has a body that is slightly smaller than the J-200, and features a large pickguard and star inlays. It is used by overseas artists such as Paul McCartney of The Beatles and Japanese artist Kazutoshi Sakurai of Mr. Children, so many people may have seen it. This is a special model of the J-180 produced at the Gibson Custom Shop, and only 30 units were produced as a Special Edition. Most J-180 models have a black body and a black or tortoiseshell pickguard, but this model uses a pearl pickguard. In addition, the headtop is also made of pearl, as befits a limited model, and it has luxurious specifications such as a gold truss rod cover and gold pegs. In addition, ebony, which has been used less in recent years to reduce costs, is used for the fingerboard and bridge. It comes with a genuine Gibson crocodile hard case, which is rarely used due to its high cost.
