Description: Book: "Giant Brains or Machines That Think" by Edmund C. Berkeley is a great addition to any collection of Computer Science and Computer History items. With its rare attribute of a dust jacket, this book is a must-have for any technology enthusiast or collector in the realm of vintage computers. Each chapter has interesting information about early computers including the Harvard Mark I and the Simon computer. It also covers some early efforts in A.I., artificial intelligence. The Dust Jacket is in comparably good condition for its age and better than all that I have owned. This one is mostly intact and does not seem brittle like others that I have collected. It has a little shelf wear as seen in the photo and some waviness on the front over the word "Giant". The hardback book has some tape marks and some of the usual library markings. See the pictures. The book is in good shape for 1959 and seems to have had very little handling. This book has been in my personal collection and has been in wraps for the past ten years. I have other copies that I have used for reference for my Computer Science Exhibit designs. You might know of Mr. Berkeley from his Geniac and Brainiac 'computers'.
