Description: Ghost Towns of Nevada Through the eyes of Nick Ali and his camera Perfect Paperback, 2005 2nd Edition.List Price $22.00Brand new, Buy direct with fast shipping This beautifully illustrated book is chock full of beautiful photography taken by renowned ghost town photographer Nick Ali. Nice enough to be a coffee table book, this book provides rich historical insight into Nevada's ghost towns. This book was obtained through the author's many ventures into little known parts of Nevada, traveling over 250,000 miles in twenty years, from talking to old time miners, and from reading the many historical books on mining and Nevada territory. Lavish black and white pictures depict a time and place that is now fading. Includes bonus section on the much-publicized Bodie, CA ghost town. A great read, study, ghost town guide (unofficial maps not to scale and best used alongside proper Nevada geography maps), suitable for any ghost town enthusiast, as well as just a great fun conversational piece! About the author: Widely regarded as one of Nevada’s most outstanding photographers of the State’s historical past, Nicholas Ali created and assembled a professional collection of rare mining camp and ghost town photographs. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served on the mighty U.S.S. Biscayne in combat during the invasions of Angio and southern France. The U.S.S. Biscayne “always a target, never a hit”, also led General Patton and his troops to the beachheads of Palermo, Sicily and Salerno, Italy. Nick was awarded three stars for the invasions and the “Accommodation Medal” for heavy air attack. After retiring as a ceramic tile contractor, Nick became fascinated with the idea of venturing into the little known, many isolated, unpaved roads to explore these romantic ghost towns and old mining camps. In order to keep as much a record of them as possible, he accumulated a large inventory of color photographs and some black and white. They are relics of our heritage, vividly depicting the fading remnants of the towns that provided housing and necessary operating facilities and equipment for those pioneer miners who first labored and dug for the precious metals. Nick always had an interest in history and was disheartened that so little remains of Nevada’s past because of vandalism, progress, and nature’s elements. A persistent, enthusiastic and imaginative individual, he devoted much time roaming the remote areas of Nevada’s mountain and desert ranges in his determination to persevere and continue his never-ending quest to seek out and photographically record the remains of that which has preceded us. 100% positive feedback, buy with confidence.Refunds are provided less sellers actual shipping cost when free shipping is provided.
