Description: FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE..... Estate find... Vintage hand painted covered tobacco jar. Although no maker's marks, the quality, the modeling and the overall look is that of a German stein. The motifs include numerous references to pipe smoking as well as grapes and vines. The jar stands 5 inches tall and measures 4 1/2 inches across the most bulbous portion of the body. I inserted a standard size playing card in one photo as a reference for size. No chips or cracks detected, no crazing or wear to the finish. The lid rim is finished with a gold edge. That detail is showing some wear from use. MUCH OBLIGED
