Description: Antique German Immigrant steamer trunk. Was my stepfather's grandparents. My stepfather was born in 1920 and he told me it was his grandparents when they came to the United States. It should be from about 1875. It was painted black, who knows when? Should be easy to remove. Wood appears as oak from grain and weight. Has storage shelf/compartment on left hand side. Both handles firm, and function well. Hinges the same. The original hand made key is with it and the lock works! Tounge and grove corners. Original square nails used on locking mechanism. Can be a nice piece with a little effort. I have had for about 35 years. Time for someone to make a nice showpiece of it. Do some checking on price and you will see its price is right!
