Description: 1813 Georgian sterling silver Fish Slice / Serving Piece from London, England. Hallmarked for Thomas Dicks, who was in partnership with James Dicks from 1821 to 1832 when he is presumed to have died. Piercing and hand engraving on the slice's blade. Plain Fiddle pattern handle has a mono which I can't quite make out the center letter. I believe it is "LFE" or "LTE". Hallmarks are very clear for London (crowned Leopard), Date, sterling marks, and King George III head. (Note: although George III died in 1811, the hallmarks did not change to show William IV until 1821). Length: 11.5" Silver weight: 106 grams Condition: Good condition. Old repair mid-slice evident. Monogram as photographed and described. No flat spots, nicks, dents, pings, dings, bashes, unusual scratches, bends, monogram removals, carbon spots, or other blemishes. Faint surface abrasions create patina consistent with age and use. Pattern is still crisp and not worn away, except in area of repair. Recent thorough hand polish. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. I only charge actual postage, and always use recycled packing materials. Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views. I gladly accept returns, but please note I do not pay return postage unless there was a significant error in my description. The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge. All dimensions and weights approximate. If you have a question or an assumption on an item prior to purchase, please ask. I much prefer to take the time on the front end to make sure you will be satisfied with your purchase. Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
