Description: Lithograph by Georges Joubin; 1888-1983, Painter/graphic artist, studied at the Académie Julian in Paris. With P. Bonnard he was one of the founders of the 'School of Montmarte'. Much of his work concerned Montmartre. He befreinded Pierre de Belay. The death of Von, his model and his partner, left a void in his life and retired to his studio for a year, he then traveled and exhibited in Sweden. His work has references to Bonnard and Vuillard. A print which is bright and unfaded, the image printed on paper sheet measuring 39 cm x 51 cm (15 x 20 ins.) will be shipped rolled. Signed with the artists monogram in the image and in pencil with the edition 64/87. Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image and sheet is good with several creases and handling marks condusive with age. He traveled around France in search of subjects, however a notable part of his work concerned Montmartre where, in 1912, he moved to Fusains. In 1920, he started at the Indépendants, and in 1923, he exhibited at the “Eve Adam” gallery, at the same time as Pierre de Belay with whom he became friends. The death of Von, his model and his partner, left a void in his life and retired to his studio for a year, he then traveled and exhibited in Sweden. His painting is frank, colourful and without nuance, with close references to Bonnard and Vuillard. A fine print which is bright and unfaded, the image printed on a medium wove paper sheet measuring approximately 39 cm x 51 cm (15 x 20 ins.) may be shipped in a tube. The sheet is signed with the artists monogram in the image and is signed in pencil with the edition 64/87 in the lower margin.
