Description: This is an interesting George V Sterling Silver Teaspoon in the classic Old English pattern. The top of the stem is engraved with a windmill design which we have been unable to identify. It could be a family crest or the logo of a company or members club. The teaspoon was made in Sheffield by silversmiths Robert Pringle & Sons and dates to 1935. Robert Pringle started his business in London's Clerkenwell Road around 1870, with his sons joining the business in the mid-1880s. The company manufactured in London, Sheffield and Birmingham. They remained a family run firm until finally closing in the late 1950s. They are best known for their range of consistently good quality tableware and flatware. Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the barest minimum of superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs as these form part of the description. The spoon is 12.3cm / 4.8ins long and weighs in at a very respectable 17.3g / 0.61oz of solid Sterling Silver. The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter s for 1935 and the R.P makers' mark for Robert Pringle & Sons.
