Hammond (1855-1938) was a noted Massachusetts artist who then settled in Cleveland, Ohio where until 1926, worked as an important architect in the classical style. EDUCATION: Massachusetts Normal School; studies with William Merritt Chase, William Louis Sonntag, Jr. and Walter Lansil MEMBERSHIPS: Cleveland School of Art EXHIBITIONS: 3 paintings of the White Mountains, Massachusetts Charitable Exhibition, 1881; Art Institute of Chicago, 1908 Sight size of this wonderful painting is 14 3/8 x 21 1/4. Signed and dated 1931 lower right. A tranquil, superbly rendered work. Has not been examined out of the frame but appears to be in very good condition in a contemporary mat and frame. Size of the frame is 23 1/2 x 30. The framed piece will be shipped without the glass in order to avoid damage.
