Description: Genuine vintage Venetian jester mask. The face of the mask itself is made of papier mache, which is likely applied atop of a form, which is the traditional process of making a mask according to the Venetian traditional mask making process. The mask is painted. The eyes feature two antique or vintage Italian playing cards that have been glued. You can see the playing cards have been slightly folded over the eye openings and the edges of the cards can be seen on the reverse. There is Italian writing on the playing cards. Lacquered genuine music sheets make up the hat. A single bell is attached to each of the hat's formed panels. Again, bells are traditional for authentic Venetian joker masks. A strap is affixed to the mask so the mask can be worn. A hook has also been attached so that the piece can be hung. If you are interested in buying this mask for wear, please see photos for measurements, particularly those of the face portion. The mask is not very big. Excellent condition. Wear commensurate with its age. Could possibly be cleaned, but I will leave that up to the new owner in order to avoid damaging the piece. Super fun piece.
