Description: Up for sale is an art page from the vintage book Wild Flowers of America, Circa 1955. Art work by Mary Vaux Walcott or Dorothy Falcon Platt. You are buying a single page that contains an image on each side. Not two separate pages. Page measure approximately 8" x 11.5". Pages may have foxing or other small defects which is expected with items of this age, but all are suitable for framing. (Note: There is 3/4" of an inch from bottom of each page to the title of the flower. The processing method to post each image cuts off a portion of it. Any competent framer will be able to have the name of the flower visible). These images are made from plates of the original paintings by either Mary Vaux Walcott or Dorothy Falcon Platt as published by the Smithsonian Institute. On each page, to the right of the flower name, you will find the artists internals. MVW (Walcott) or DFP (Platt). These pages are not pure white by design. The printer attempted to duplicate the tones of the original paper used by the artists. To quote the printer "...original water-color sketches...painted on an antique-surfaced paper..". "...in color-loveliness and quality we have come as close as is humanly possible in the circumstances to achieve true facsimile." Please see images and condition description above for details.
