Description: Compagnie Générale Transatlantique LIBERTÉ French Line Le Havre ART DECO Medal This beautiful bronze medal commemorates the maiden voyage between Le Havre and New York aboard the Liberté ocean liner. Has an allegorical depiction of Liberty (or possibly the Goddess Aphrodite, since she is standing upon an open seashell) free of her chains. Medal comes inside its original round case (case has a stain on the bottom), as issued. Medal was designed by the French Medalist, Jean Emile Louis de Vernon. Marked with a hallmark on the edge (I believe the letters are "AB & C" inside a pyramid/triangle shape, but they are too small to be sure) and "BRONZE".
