Description: The Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, presents THE MOUNTAIN MAN Large Bronze Sculpture (replica) by Frederic Remington (American 1861–1909). "The Mountain Man" depicts a dramatic moment in the daily life of a buckskin-clad trapper in which he and his mount work together to descend a precarious slope, harmoniously prevailing over the wilderness. Remington’s signature, on the lower left side of the slanted terrain, is part of the original mold that Remington completed in March 1907. A fine, high quality reproduction, cast in the lost-wax technique, revealing a rich variety of textures, from the fringed buckskin garment to the animal’s hairy coat to the rocklike base. No foundry marks. A high quality, older reproduction of one of Remington’s greatest sculptures. Most likely a U.S. casting. DIMENSIONS: 40”H x 34”W x 15”D. WT=85 lbs. CONDITION: Excellent.
