Description: Royal Staffordshire Wilkinson Ltd, Burslem England Charger hand painted and signed in faux Japanese script by leading designer Fred Ridgway, Aesthetic movement circa 1910 - 1920. Anglo-Japanese style charger 32cm wide, 9.5cm in height on flared foot. Weighs 1.8kg. Featuring butterflies with raised enamel-jewelled wings and 38 Japanese lanters around the gilt rim. Leading Staffordshire painter Fred Ridgway has signed the piece in vertical script in the manner of Japanese characters. In very good condition, no damage or restoration, light surface scratching to centre of bowl from use. A few very fine and unobtrusive scratches to the exterior.
