Scott and Zelda made many friend among the American expatriate community in Paris, notably Ernest Hemingway and Gertrude Stein, the American living in Paris and whose Salon the young people patronized. Stein became a great collector of original art. It was she who labeled Hemingway and Fitzgerald as the "lost generation."
