Handmade wooden saw, saw horse, axe and logs all assembled within a 10-inch tall clear glass bottle with a non-removable stopper. It bears the following pencil notation: "F.D.R. I ALWAYS FINISH WHAT I START &C" and on the base of the saw horse: "PROPERTY OF PRESIDENT OF U.S.A. F.D. ROOSEVELT". One log is loose. Accompanied by a May 17, 2002 TLS: "Wendell A. Parks" as Exhibits Specialist, Franklin D. Roosevelt Library, Hyde Park, N.Y., to Mr. Leon Adams, "in response to your inquiry concerning miniature wooden replicas of woodcutting implements in a bottle, made by James H. Porter, with a label identifying the ensemble as 'property of President of USA FD Roosevelt.' Records in the Archives section of the Roosevelt Library confirm that in a letter to Mr. James Hamilton Porter of Dinuba, California, dated March 8, 1937, the President's private secretary acknowledged receipt of his February 23rd letter and the gift, and conveyed to him the President's thanks and appreciation.
