Description: Introduced by Gladding McBean & Co in 1948 as the Three Footed Soup Tureen. It was the first style of the three design styles released in the Apple pattern over the years. It was made until 1969 when it was retired. This particular Tureen has the "Hand Decorated" Backstamp that was use until 1949. Since the Soup Tureen was introduced in 1948 and this backstamp was retired in 1949 it is one of the earliest made Soup Tureens. I am always awed by the condition of these pieces from the 40s. When I think about what the average family has been through since the 40s and theses pieces have come through all the moves, deaths, births, holidays, and everything else families go through unscathed it is amazing to me. Excellent Used Condition!! No chips, cracks, repairs or crazing. There is one small paint drip inside, see photos. With all my pieces when I bring them home, I hand wash them. I do this because I donโt believe you can truly say there is โno crazingโ without getting them wet. Crazing can hide. So, when I say there are no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs, I have done my due diligence to discover any defects.
