This very scarce gold type of Louis X rarely come to market as few examples exist. After examining images of many of this type coin, we have found that what has been called "damaged" looks to be "post minting damage" From the mint itself. Many gold pieces struck in this period look like the thin planchets had to be pried out of the fine detailed dies. Almost every example we have looked at, has the same type "Damage" in the same area of the coins to some degree or with some pieces requiring far more work needed to have the coin extracted from the die.
